My name is Darshan Mojle. I am B.tech final year student of shri. Govindram seksaria institute of technology and science indore m.p. I was an Electrical Engineering Intern at CNCTrain since past one month. I am glad to be part of this organisation. The experience and learning over here is very good. The support and guidance given by mentors and my teammates was great. Internships at Abhyaz is in remote mode and we usually work in virtual office, but this virtual office gave me the vibes of a real office.

My experience in a brief:

I as an Electrical Engineering Intern use to work on software given by mentors for design and simulation of electrical circuits. I had working in CNCTrain for sops. I have completed many modules from the tasksheet given by mentors. I have made knowledge, skill, tool captures on given topics. All this work is performed in the Lumi Tool for making captures.


We have a peer to peer grading review after the submission of task, first we will interact with the mentors and give a brief introduction about topic on which we are working and give presentation and making interactive videos of our work.

The assesments given by the abhyaz are very useful and survey.

Tools (Software) I have Used:


1. Qucs studio :

The first tool on which i have work , Qucs Studio is designed to be user-friendly and easy to use, even for users with limited experience in circuit simulation and design. It offers a drag-and-drop interface for placing components and connecting them to form circuits, and also provides various customization options for the simulation settings and output data.

  • Overall, Qucs Studio is a powerful and versatile electronic circuit simulator that is well-suited for both students and professionals in the field of electronics engineering. Its open-source nature and cross-platform compatibility make it a popular choice among users worldwide.

  • I have design an inverting amplifier using Qucs studio.

2. EasyEDA :

EasyEDA is a web-based tool used for electronic circuit design and PCB layout design. It offers a user-friendly interface and allows users to create, edit, and share electronic designs easily.

It is the required tool for making led printed circuited board, first we will download all required tools and knowing about the components

  • design of light emitting diode.

3. MATLAB & SIMULINK


Matlab is programming platform designed specially for for engineers to anlyaze and design systems and products that transform our world. I crate a course how to use it.

Perks of this internship:

I got a lot of new information about how virtual office works. It boosted my self-confidence. My most valuable learnings are remote teamwork, time management, communication & presentation skills .

Introduction:

I am Remya Maria Paul. I have completed my Post Graduation in 2019 after which I joined an Engineering College as Assistant Professor in a Guest post. During Covid-19, I could get a remote teaching opportunity at an Engineering college which lasted a semester after which colleges began to open its doors to students. But I couldn’t join back since Covid-19 was still at its peak and I was carrying, which gave me a break. After that I was looking for a returnship opportunity and that’s when I found Abhyaz on Linkedin jobs.

My experience in a brief:

Holding on to this opportunity was the best thing I did, as it provided a completely remote option for internship. The virtual office which we use for internship gives a wonderful office atmosphere at the comfort of your own home.

During the internship I could brush up various software’s in Civil Engineering field which I previously used, along with new software’s in Civil field. Software’s which are used in other fields were an add-on to me. It was fascinating that I could learn many new software’s and had hands on out-of-the-box activities like creating SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedure), creating e-learning courses and quizzes. It made me more confident when my presentation skills were much appreciated by my colleagues and mentors and which was further underlined as I received the “Star Intern of the Month” recognition of February month. 

Tools (Software) I have Used:

1.  AutoCAD 2016

The first and foremost software that a civil engineer uses throughout his lifetime is of course AutoCAD. I used AutoCAD 2016 software for detailing the beam, slab, doglegged stair case etc. Courses were created where Structural detailing is explained well and usage of AutoCAD software for those detailing was explained well.

2.  STAAD.Pro.v8i

Its an analysis software that civil engineers use to a wide extent. Structural Analysis is an inevitable part for civil engineers and also it’s a need of the industry. I used it for analysis of beams and creating courses on how to use STAAD which would help the users of the course to learn how to use STAAD.Pro.v8i.

 

3.  ETABS

It is also an analysis software. It can be used for modeling, analysis and design of structures. Plans from AutoCAD can be imported to ETABS for easy modeling. I used it for beam analysis which was intended to create course on how to use ETABS software.

 

4.  SAGA GIS

SAGA stands for System for Automated Geoscientific Anlayses. SAGA is a Geographic Information System (GIS) Software. It has been designed for an easy and effective implementation of spatial algorithms. It is an open source software. This software was new to me. I had a chance to learn this new civil related software. I created a course on how to use this software.

5.  Ultimaker Cura

Cura is simple but powerful 3D slicing software produced by Ultimaker. It is an open source software. The print profiles are optimised for Ultimaker 3D printers, but the softwre will slice 3D files for any 3D printer brand/model. This is also a new software for me which made me work out of the box. Once you have the 3D model you'd like to print, you can import the file into Cura. Users will be able to scale, rotate, and duplicate the object as needed. The software provides a visual of the printing bed, and all prints must fit within that space. I imported a 3D wall mount to cura and made needed changes for setting it to print bed and made it ready for 3D printing as a gcode file. If we insert the SD card of printer into computer and copy the file and put it in printer and run we can make 3D print of the model. I could also get in touch with Additive Manufacturing along with this software.

AZRA THASNIM.S (ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEERING INTERN)

I worked as an electrical design engineering intern for three months. Through this experience I have gained the opportunity to up skill my designing, communication, team work. The virtual office environment has been a boon for me which enables to work from anywhere. 

MY WORK 

As an electrical design engineering intern I have gained the opportunity to design various electrical circuits, simulate them and analyze the designing and working of these electrical systems. I have also created various outcomes using the lumi app for these electrical circuits. For each electrical circuit outcome I have created knowledge capture which is about the theoretical explanation of the topics, skill capture which deals with the steps included in designing and simulation of these circuits and tool capture which is the explanation about the software tool I have used for designing. I have worked in software like Matlab/ Simulink, Orcad/ pSpice and Grafana . I have created the outcomes using lumi app and open e-learning. I had also created content and quizzes for CNCtrain . 

SOFTWARE TOOLS USED 

1) MATLAB/SIMULINK

Matlab /Simulink is a simulation software for designing of dynamic data and embedded systems. It is developed by Math Works .It is used as data flow graphical programming language tool for modelling, simulating and analysing multi-domain dynamic systems. By the use of block libraries we can design the circuits.

It allows you to incorporate MATLAB algorithms into models

testing and verification of embedded systems

2)OrCAD / PSpice

It is a SPICE circuit simulator application for simulation and verification of signal circuits. It can also integrate with matlab using interfaces. OrCAD Capture and PSpice Designer together allows us to do circuit simulation, verification solution with schematic entry, native analog, mixed signal, and analysis engines. PSpice is a modified version of the academically developed SPICE.

3) GRAFANA

Grafana is an open-source visualization and analytics software. The data which is stored, can be queried, visualized, and explored. It provides you with tools to turn your time-series database (TSDB) data into beautiful graphs and visualizations. Grafana helps to facilitate a culture where data can easily be used and accessed by the people that need it, helping to break down data  and providing access to the  teams.

About Me:

My name is Harsha Jain. I’m currently pursuing M. Tech in VLSI Design. As an Electronics engineer, I have completed a three-month internship. Internships are the gateway to starting a career for individuals who want to become independent. 

About the Internship:

During the internship, I have worked on a diverse variety of software from other fields as well as the field of electronics engineering as mentioned below. Also, I had the opportunity to work with my colleagues on Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) and course-building for various themes.

Tools (Software) I have Used:

1. UMHDL:

 

UMHDL is an Open-source software for learning digital designing with programmable logic devices using Hardware Description Languages (HDL) through simulation. Currently, it supports VHDL compilers like GHDL, FreeHDL, and nvc. Future versions will include various free compilers that support Verilog. It supports many languages like Spanish, English, Ukrainian, Arab, French, Chinese etc. It is feasible to work in Windows (32/64-bit), Linux (32/64-bit) and Mac OS X.

I have created a 4-bit ALU using behavioural modelling in VHDL using UMHDL 2.4 version. Using VHDL behavioural modelling and the UMHDL 2.4 version, I have produced a 4-bit ALU. To write code, finish the task, and check the results in simulation form on a Windows operating system, you must download GHDL or another compiler, as specified above, separately.

2. AutomSim Premium:

 

AUTOMSIM is a circuit design and simulation software for electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, and digital electronics. The software is available for free for 40 days, but after that, we need a licence key to continue using it. For me, this software was new, so learning to use it was a little challenging. I was able to design a simple pneumatic circuit for a single-acting cylinder with the support of mentors and the materials accessible on an e-learning site from prior interns.

 

3. MCU 8051 IDE:

It is an open-source Integrated Development Environment for some microcontrollers based on 8051(e.g., AT89S8253). Supported languages are Assembly and C. It has a simulator, assembler, editor, and many other tools. It has many virtual hardware devices like LED, LCD Displays, 7-segment displays etc.

It has an easy user interface. I have written and compiled code for LCD in assembly language programming. We can use it for C language and also with the C compiler.

4. MATLAB:

 

MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform used by millions of engineers and scientists to analyse data, develop algorithms, and create models. It is used in many fields including deep learning and machine learning, signal processing and communications, image and video processing, control systems, test and measurement, computational finance, and computational biology.

Since MATLAB provides many features, it is bit difficult to learn everything at once. But if anyone has curiosity and learning capabilities, it can become easier. I have used MATLAB for Digital Signal Processing (DSP) application and have written the code for Low Pass Filter (LPF). In the e-learning platform, there are many resources available for MATLAB by previous interns and for different applications.

5. Logisim:

 

An educational tool for designing and simulating digital logic circuits, featuring a simple-to-learn interface, hierarchical circuits, wire bundles, and a large component library. As a Java application, it can run on many platforms. You need to have pre-installed Java development kit to run this software smoothly.

Introduction: 

This side Sanjo saju. I was a mechanical engineer intern for the past three months. I am extremely happy to be a part of this organisation just because of gaining more knowledge in my workplace. The support and guidance given by my mentor are immensely great. The remote mode functionality in this internship gave me a fantastic virtual reality office feel. 

How does this Internship help me improve?

As a mechanical engineer, I worked with a variety of software, including Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, Ansys Workbench R1, MATLAB and MATLAB sub-division Simscape. I also have worked on the Standard operating procedure of CNC machines. Furthermore, I have worked on the making course of Naan Mudhalvan course templates which includes developing skills in CNC Machine operation, machining processes, Cutting Tool & Work-Holding nomenclature, offset procedure, and Programming for various turning and milling components. In addition to it, this internship also helped me to increase my computer technical skills such as creating a professional h5p tool, creating templates for courses in Moodle platform, adding various types of quiz formats as well as assigning tasks to help the students to understand the course better. The e-learning content given by the mentors gave me a proper explanation of how to plan my process correctly. The problems I faced while assessing the open-source software were immense. My main issue was determining when the sketches in Autodesk Inventor were fully constrained. It frequently fails to function properly when rendering the designed portion of the sketches. As a result, the mentors advise focusing on the bottom of the screen. If the sketch is properly constrained, the figure will be labelled 'fully constrained' at the bottom of the screen. They also instructed me to use the auto-dimension dialogue box to drag a selection window around my sketch and then click to select it. The mentors' advice while creating an e-learning course content was critical for me to make the template more interesting while also saving time. This internship was critical for me to expand my knowledge.

About the Mentor & Team:

In the engineering team, my mentors are Jayanthi mam, Tamizh sir and Dinesh sir. They guide me throughout the course. Even if it was a simple error, they would guide me with not even being angry with me. My fellow interns also help me a lot. Working with them is thus a pleasant experience.

It is a remote internship, and working in this internship is simple. You can choose this internship if you want to start your career. It will broaden your experience, abilities, and knowledge. Here you can take a list of open-source software provided by the mentor and work on it

Conclusion: 

Working at this Internship helped me grow as a person while also improving my technical and communication skills. I'd like to thank all the leaders and members for making it such a memorable and educational experience for me. The mentors helped me not only gain some experience but also showed me an insider view of how things are really done and expected at a higher level. Not only did I make new networking connections, but I now have a group of supporting people to reach out to for help.

I recommend anyone who is looking for an internship to go for it. Don’t be afraid to apply and reach out. The worst answer you might get is no, but you won’t know unless you give it a try.
